About Me

  • About Me: Moral ponderer by choice, optimist by nature, pessimist by experience.sceptic by necessity. Uncertain as to what's going on and about received explanations. Hopeful of a few proposals but rarely of proponents or implementation. Consequently, hesitant to commit but content to remain a fellow traveller. Reasonably civilised and principled but probably a hypocrite. Mildly ascetic leanings with reprobate tendencies. Dubito ergo cogito, cogito ergo sum, ummmm, cogito.

Movies

  • Favorite Movies: Danton; Reds; The Jackel; Life of Brian; The Getaway; The Wild Bunch; The Dictator; Modern Times; Casablanca.
  • Favorite Genre: Lone man against the odds.
  • Favorite Soundtracks: Music is preferable to noise. Where rap falls in that division would appear to be the latter, but I digress.
  • Movie Quotes I say all the time: Anyone quoting movie lines all the time, needs help. Personally, I'd make 'em an offer they can't refuse. Nevertheless, one of my favourites is Gold Hat in Sierra Madre : « Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges! I don't have to show you any stinkin' badges! »
  • Movies I can watch over and over: Life is too short to redo entertainment.
  • Actor that would play me in a movie: Woody Allen if he was more Celtic looking.

Video Games

  • Games I Play: I pretend to know what I'm talking about and that I believe that others know what they are talking about.
  • Consoles: As I ponder the state of this horrendous world, I find a bottle of red is a mite consoling.

  • Clans: The MacGregors are quite a notable clan but a trifle too Scottish for my taste. I'm of the O'Connails myself, a notable Kerry clan loyal to the McCarthy Mor of Munster and tending to shag anyone who attempts to pick up a shamrock. There's millions of O'Connails. I'm not sure if there is a connection.

Style

  • Where I shop: I don't shop people. Not economic criminals at least. I'd drop a call from a public phone box to the Peelers though, if there was a serial killer next door.

  • Favorite Junk Foods: Do they serve food on Junks? My knowledge on Chinese naval procedures is somewhat limited

Television

  • Favorite Channels: The English Channel. It keeps all those dastardly foreigners at bay. "This is the BBC! Today, there is fog in the Channel. Europe is cut off!"
  • Favorite Reruns: The News, except where they keep on showing politicians shaking hands, showing both rows of their teeth like carnivorous Americans and waving at the camera. Fair makes me want to puke.
  • Most Addictive Show: any series is addictive and should be banned.
  • Favorite Late Night Talk Show: "Should hanging be revived for writers of TV series?"

  • Show I Secretly Watch: I love horror shows, so I often cruise the God Channel for tips on how to fleece the naive and desperate.
